Kintamani
For our guests who
love
the beauty and perfection of nature, we recommend Kintamani's beautiful
landscape. This lovely area is located just 20 minutes drive north of
the
Alila Ubud. A fantastic lake view surrounded by a green valley and a
spectacular
volcano. For a closer look at the lake, drive only 10 minutes further
down
the valley. A soft mountain breeze will welcome you and your colleagues
while you enjoy the beautiful up close view in paradise. Across the
lake
there is an original Bale Age ( Balinese Tribal ) village called
"TRUNYAN"
with a population of approximately 60 villagers. These people live
apart
from the Balinese and have their own cultural ways which are a little
different
from the common Hindu found in Bali ( for example they do not cremate
or
bury their dead. Instead their dead are laid out on top of the ground
and
covered with only bamboo poles ). The lake, called Batur lake, is the
largest
lake in Bali.
Tampaksiring
Tampaksiring is
known for
its natural springs. In Tampaksiring there are five pools that are
filled
directly from surrounding springs. Three of the pools are believed to
be
holy pools. The Balinese believe that they can take the holy water from
on of the pools to bless their new cars. The other two pools are used
as
public bathrooms for local people and also for bathing. The water is
cold
and fresh. It is so clear you can see the bottom of the force of the
water
flowing from the earth into the pool. This water flows continuously
throughout
the year.
Gianyar Ikat
The most famous Ikat
in
Bali are made in Gianyar. This half-day tour will take you to various
locations
in Gianyar. You will producing beautiful Ikat as well as a steady
rhythmic
sound. Buy handmade Ikat and brings it home as very special gift for
your
friends.
Market tours
If you wish to visit
a Balinese
traditional market, Gianyar market is the best place to go. It is open
daily from 02.00 A.M. to 06.00 P.M. You will experience people selling
and buying things in a very traditional way. Balinese food and daily
products
are also sold. One of the most traditional items, still used and
maintained
by Balinese, are tropical herbs. There are more than 20 kinds of herbs
used by Balinese in their daily cooking.
Goa Gajah (
Elephant Cave
)
Goa Gajah, situated
just
south of the road between Ubud and Gianyar, is clearly indicated by a
concentration
of curio shops. Goa Gajah dates back to the eleventh century and there
are conflicting opinions about whether this cave was originally a
Buddhist
or Hindu hermitage. Although not very large, it boasts some interesting
carvings. In front of the intricately carved cave is an intensive
watering
place which was discovered some years ago. The local people believe
this
water to be holy water. Even today, there still exists a legend among
the
villagers that the cave was carved by powerful king called "KEBO IWA".
Ubud
Most people come to
Ubud
because of the diversity of art available. Some very famous artists
live
in Ubud. Others come for inspiration. If you wish to find Batik
paintings
and many other kinds of souvenirs, you will find them in the shopping
areas
of Ubud.
Ubud Monkey
Forest
The monkey forest of
the
Ubud is a 5 minutes drive from the center of Ubud. The forest is not as
big as the Sangeh forest, but the monkeys are just as wild. It is
recommended
to leave your jewelry at the hotel and not leave your bags lying
unattended
as they will very likely be whisked away by our furry friends. Above
all,
enjoy the natural setting while you chase the monkeys around.
Museum
The museum are must
see
for art lovers. To those who have heard so much about the art of Bali,
but have had not time to see it. Now is our chance. Some of the most
famous
art work from the fast can be enjoyed in the museum. Famous for art and
paintings, Ubud is the place to go if you want to take home a canvas or
two. We recommended, prior to purchase, a visit to Neka or Museum Puri
Lukisan to learn all you can about the Balinese style of painting. Our
guide will take you around to some of the best place that will fulfill
your art desires.
Kokokan tour
Petulu is 2 km from
Ubud
and has something you must see. A large flock of white egrets are
living
in harmony with the local people. The villagers say that they are used
to the birds and enjoy their company. The white egret makes its home in
the large trees in front of the houses. More than 10 million white
egrets
live in Petulu. They hatch their eggs high in the trees and can be seen
leaving early in the morning to find food. They come back again at
about
16.00 with food in their mouths to be given to their babie
