| Lake Batur is the largest lake of the island of Bali. Sit inside one of the largest caldera in the world of ancient mount Batur, the lake also held on it's lap the new smaller mount Batur that emerged from the ancient giant mountain. |

| The lake is bordered by
the active Batur volcano in the west and mount Catur in the east. Location
of the lake is in north eastern Bali, about 2 hours drive from Denpasar.
One favorite route is from Denpasar to Batubulan village passing trough other artists villages of Sukawati, Mas, Peliatan and Ubud, Tegal Lalang and Sebatu, we will witnessing romantic artistry of the Balinese along the way. Nearing the lake the air is getting cooler, and cold air and probably famous Kintamani mist will greet us upon arriving at Penelokan area that perched on spectacular rim of the crater of Batur to witness the majestic view of lake and mount Batur. Other favorite route is from Batubulan village go through villages of Singapadu, Sayan, Ubud, Kedewatan and Payangan until arrive at the rim of the mountain. Beside arts and crafts, green and lush vegetation will greet us along the fine and scenic road. |

Kahyangan great temples of Bali.

| Interesting
sites encircling the lakes include Kintamani village with it's Batur temple,
Trunyan baliaga village with it's open graveyard, Toya Bungkah village
with it's natural hot water. Penulisan temple, one of the highest located
temple in Bali is not far from here. Many restaurants and hotels would
be found both high above the rim or down below right by the lake.
The lake is the origin of many rivulet and creek toward the south directions which give blessing water to the areas of southern Bali with their vegetations and paddy fields. Ones can almost circle the large lake with 9 x 17 km in size by car or motorcycle, or we can also go by boat to villages around the water body such as, Toya Bungkah and Trunyan. Start early in the morning is an ideal condition to climb the volcano which usualy will take a couple of hours to climb and an hour to decent. |
