Here's a handsomely produced three-book set on shiatsu (Japanese massage),
reflexology, and yoga, perfect for anyone without the time or the means
to hit a spa or gym class. Gorgeous full-color photos and easy-to-understand
instructions make it simple to follow proper technique. The yoga and meditation
exercises are perfect for solo practice, but the reflexology and shiatsu
are most easily practiced with a partner. The yoga book includes a five-week
plan for making yoga a habit, and its index gives particular stretches
and asanas (poses) to try for relief of problems like indigestion,
colds, high blood pressure, and anxiety. The discussion of "fire energy"
and chakras (energy meridians in the body) delineated in the shiatsu
book may seem a bit odd to readers more accustomed to Western medicine,
but after a massage session, all doubt will melt away. |
